President Dallin H. Oaks to Dedicate Brazil's New Belo Horizonte Temple

President Dallin H. Oaks is set to dedicate the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple on Sunday, Aug. 16, in a session that will be aired twice for church units in the district. This will be his second dedication since his ordination as prophet in Oct. 2025 and his inaugural international dedication. Once dedicated, the temple joins eleven other operating temples in Brazil, bringing the total to twelve and aiding the country's 1.5 million Latter-day Saints.

The temple, a single-story building of about 2,665 sq ft, was announced in April 2021, broke ground in June 2023 in the Engenho Nogueira neighborhood, and held a public open house from June 13 to June 27. Prior temple dedications by Oaks include sites in Idaho, Provo, Colombia, Virginia, and the Philippines. Brazil currently has 24 announced temples, with several under construction or in planning stages.
