President Lee Jae Myung's approval climbs to 34.8% after press briefing

Realmeter’s latest poll of 2,507 nationwide adults indicates President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating rose to 34.8%, marking the first weekly increase in ten weeks after a press conference. Positive evaluations rose by one percentage point, while negative assessments ticked up by 0.1 to 63.4%. The surge coincided with Lee’s statements on key topics, including extending the presidential term, cancelling indictments, and troop deployment, as well as reaffirming his reform agenda.

Previously, his rating had fallen amid criticism over the vetting of Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won and Gender Equality Minister nominee Yong Hye-in, both of whom stepped aside. Support grew most among voters in their 20s, with a 5.4-point jump, and also rose among those in their 60s and 30s. The poll, commissioned by EKN newspaper, carries a 2-point margin of error at the 95% confidence level.
