President Nicușor Dan Hosts Venice Commission Delegation at Cotroceni Palace

President Nicușor Dan met a Venice Commission delegation at the Cotroceni Palace on Monday.

On Monday, President Nicușor Dan received a delegation from the European Commission for Democracy through Law at the Cotroceni Palace, as listed in the official presidential agenda. The gathering started at 12:30 and was led by Venice Commission President Marta Cartabia, accompanied by director Simona Granata-Menghini and vice-president Eirik Holmøyvik. Additional attendees included Laura-Iuliana Scântei, head of the Sub-committee on National Minorities and a Constitutional Court judge, Iain Cameron, chair of the Sub-committee on International Law, and legal counsel Tone Sørfonn Moe. The timing is notable, coming one day before the full parliamentary session where deputies and senators will decide on the investiture vote for the new government, while hearings of ministers appointed by Prime Minister Luca Niculescu continue.

Why it matters

The talks precede a crucial parliamentary vote on confidence for Romania's new government.
