President Nicușor Dan meets Romanian community in Ukraine's Transcarpathia

President Nicușor Dan traveled to the village of Polianîția on Friday to meet leaders of the Romanian minority living in Ukraine's Transcarpathia region. He conveyed that defending their rights and interests is a major objective of Romania's external agenda. Dan described the conversation as candid and necessary, allowing him to hear directly about the community's challenges, projects, and aspirations for closer ties with Romania.

He warned that addressing many of these issues depends on securing proper financing and enacting legislative reforms. The president reaffirmed that Romania's embassies and consulates abroad are tasked with protecting these communities. He added that he regularly raises the topic with Ukrainian President Volodîmîr Zelenski, expressing firm expectations at every diplomatic level.
