President Nicușor Dan has promulgated a law that removes the option for high schools to hold separate admission tests beyond the National Evaluation.
President Nicușor Dan signed a decree that eliminates the possibility for high schools to organize their own admission examinations in addition to the National Evaluation. The amendment revises article 101 of the 2023 Pre-university Education Law, which had previously permitted schools to conduct separate contests for up to half of available places. While the original plan had been delayed and a further postponement was proposed, lawmakers ultimately voted to scrap the supplemental exam altogether.
The Senate voted overwhelmingly in favor, with only a few abstentions. The change aims to standardise the admission process across Romanian secondary education.

It standardises high-school admissions, reducing disparities caused by private entrance exams.
