President Prabowo directs equal care for all patients and allocates extra BPJS funding

President Prabowo Subianto convened a limited BPJS Kesehatan meeting at the presidential palace in Jakarta, attended by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf and BPJS Kesehatan director Prihati Pujowaskito. He directed the health minister to guarantee that hospitals deliver the same level of treatment to patients whether or not they are enrolled in the National Health Insurance scheme.

The president received a report that the 2026 state budget will allocate an extra Rp20 trillion to BPJS Kesehatan, on top of the Rp47 trillion already earmarked for premium-assistance beneficiaries. Finance Minister Nazara explained the additional funding will be disbursed in October and November to sustain the insurer’s finances. BPJS officials expressed gratitude for the support and said they are working to cut fraud and improve service quality. The meeting highlighted the administration’s focus on shorter wait times, better patient care, and financial stability for the health insurance system.
