President Prabowo inaugurates Jakarta's new 12-km LRT line from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai

President Prabowo Subianto presided over the opening ceremony of Jakarta’s latest Light Rail Transit corridor that connects Kelapa Gading with Manggarai. Prior to the formal event, he took a trial ride from Kelapa Gading Station at roughly 12:57 p.m., dressed in a cream safari shirt, and was escorted by a delegation that included Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman.

The new segment spans 12.2 km, includes 11 stations—Kelapa Gading, North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Pulomas, Equestrian, Velodrome, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, Proklamasi and Manggarai—and reduces travel time to an estimated 28 minutes. The project was built in two stages: Phase 1A began in 2016, delivering a 5.8-km stretch with six stations that opened in 2019, while Phase 1B started in 2023, adding a 6.4-km extension with five stations inaugurated today. The line is expected to improve urban mobility across Jakarta.
