Prestige recalls 40,000 Clear Eyes eye-drop bottles over sterility concerns
Prestige Consumer Healthcare is pulling nearly 40,000 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief after the FDA said sterility could not be assured.
Prestige Consumer Healthcare, headquartered in New York, initiated a nationwide recall of nearly 40,000 bottles of its Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief eye drops after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported a lack of assurance of sterility. The FDA notice, dated July 29, describes the recall as Class II, meaning the product could cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The 15 mL bottles, marketed to relieve itchiness, redness and other eye irritations, were distributed throughout the United States.
The recall is identified by number D-0766-2026, lot code 2552A, with an expiration date of September 30 2027. Prestige Consumer Healthcare has not responded to requests for comment. Consumers are advised to stop using the product and follow return instructions.
