Prime Focus Secures North American Rights, Releases Trailer for Yash’s ‘Toxic’

Prime Focus Studios obtained North American distribution for “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups” and unveiled its English-language trailer ahead of a global launch on Aug. 26.

Prime Focus Studios announced it has secured the North American theatrical rights to “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups,” a Geetu Mohandas-directed action thriller, and released the film’s English-language trailer. The movie, starring Yash in a dual role as Raya and Ticket, is set in a fictionalized Goa during the decline of Portuguese colonial rule and explores themes of power, betrayal and personal consequence. Yash also contributed as co-writer and producer through Monster Mind Creations, partnering with producer Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions.

The ensemble cast features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi, with action sequences choreographed by J.J. Perry, known for “John Wick” and “Fast & Furious.” Prime Focus, founded by Namit Malhotra, will handle the North American release, offering both English and Kannada prints and additional dubbed versions, while the film will debut globally on Aug. 26 in Kannada, Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Malhotra’s company is also producing the mythological epic “Ramayana,” starring Yash as Ravana, underscoring a broader push for Indian cinema on worldwide platforms.

Why it matters

The release signals a major push to bring Indian-made, multilingual blockbusters to North American audiences.
