Prime Minister Anwar cautions parties against using race for political gain

At the 41st Malaysia Chinese Cultural Festival in Melaka, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appealed to political parties to refrain from leveraging racial issues to attract support, describing such tactics as a sign of desperation. He highlighted that Malaysia has been independent for 69 years and should no longer let race dominate public discourse. Anwar recalled the country's early years of independence, urging all voices to work toward a unified future regardless of who leads.

He stressed that any party receiving a mandate must protect the nation and its children as a single community. In addition to the unity message, Anwar reaffirmed his government's commitment to a strict anti-corruption stance, promising decisive measures to cleanse the country of graft. The event was attended by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong and Melaka State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh.
