Prime Minister cycles to cabinet meeting as mobility week launches free bike transport and cheap day tickets

During the launch of European Mobility Week, the prime minister cycled to the cabinet meeting, highlighting a “bike morning” celebration. The mobility campaign offers a week-long period during which bicycles can be carried on regional trains at no cost, with reservation tickets remaining mandatory but provided free of charge. In addition, a 999-forint day ticket will grant unlimited rides on regional public transport for an entire day, matching the coverage of the Hungary24 day ticket but excluding local city services where county passes apply.

The head of the transport portfolio explained that the discounts are intended to demonstrate that public transport can serve as a genuine alternative to private car use. These initiatives were announced by the transport ministry as part of the effort to boost community use of shared mobility options.
