Prime Minister's Office names Oleg Ungureanu as new chancellor chief
Luca Niculescu appointed Oleg Ungureanu as head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, after Ungureanu left his consular post in Lyon.
On Monday, Luca Niculescu announced the promotion of Oleg Ungureanu to lead the Prime Minister's Chancellery. Ungureanu, who previously served as consul in Lyon, was removed from that role last week to take the new position. He originally worked with Niculescu at the Romanian Embassy in Paris and is a native of the Republic of Moldova with a background in Romania's Foreign Ministry.
Why it matters
The appointment reshuffles senior diplomatic staff and places a trusted aide in a key government coordination role.
