Prime Video commits over $2 billion to boost Latin American content and sports by 2030
Prime Video announced a multi-year plan to invest more than $2 billion in original programming, sports rights and talent development across Latin America.
At a launch event in Mexico City, Prime Video disclosed a $2 billion-plus investment plan for Latin America covering 2027-2030, aimed at expanding original series, films, unscripted formats and live-sports offerings. The strategy includes doubling locally produced content, extending NBA coverage, strengthening Brazilian football rights, and securing a four-year agreement for 38 home games of the Mexico national team. Six additional markets—Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru and Argentina—will receive rental and purchase options without a Prime subscription.
The company will also fund crew-training initiatives like “Brasil no Set” and a post-production program with SAE Institute, while partnering with By Invitation Only for talent workshops. Upcoming titles slated for 2026 feature new Argentine movies, Mexican thrillers starring Eugenio Derbez and Pedro Alonso, and a Chilean limited series directed by Francisca Alegria, Fernanda Urrejola and Andres Wood.
Why it matters
The funding could reshape streaming competition and create new opportunities for Latin American creators.
