Prime Video greenlights Stephen King's London horror tale as limited series

Prime Video announced that Stephen King’s short story “Crouch End,” originally published in 1980, will be adapted into a six-episode limited series, the first King adaptation produced in the United Kingdom. The series will be scripted by Paul Tomalin, known for “Bodies,” and directed by Tom Shankland, whose credits include “Berlin Noir” and “The Serpent.” Mammoth Screen and Fifth Season are providing production services, while Nicole Clemens, vice president of International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, highlighted the project’s blend of crime thriller and supernatural mystery.

The narrative centers on global film star Doris Freeman, who alleges otherworldly phenomena are behind her husband’s disappearance, leading police inspector Ted Vetter to question her motives. Executive producers listed are Tomalin, Shankland, Damien Timmer, Rebecca Keane and Ben Irving. The series joins a growing slate of U.K. originals on Prime Video, such as “Dirty” and “The Boys of Tommen.”
