Prime Video Secures Exclusive Streaming Home for Primetime Emmys Starting 2027

The Television Academy has signed a six-year agreement with Prime Video, making the streamer the exclusive broadcaster of the Primetime Emmys beginning in 2027.

The Television Academy and Prime Video have entered a six-year partnership that will see the Primetime Emmy Awards streamed exclusively on Amazon’s platform from 2027 onward. In addition to the main ceremony, Prime Video could broadcast ancillary Academy programming, including the Hall of Fame and Television Academy Honors. The agreement ends the historic broadcast-network rotation that has been in place since the mid-1990s. While the Creative Arts Emmys, traditionally aired on FXX, have not yet been assigned, talks continue.

The streaming deal emphasizes a global, free-to-watch model, leveraging Prime Video’s worldwide reach. Academy chair Cris Abrego highlighted the benefits of a stable, multi-year partner for creative continuity and audience access.
