Prince Harry Teams Up with Neuroscientist for MasterClass on Grief and Resilience
Prince Harry launched a MasterClass titled “Redefining Grief” with neuroscientist Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor, sharing his personal experience of loss and coping strategies.
Prince Harry debuted a new MasterClass called “Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss,” co-presented with neuroscientist Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor. In the session, he reflects on not crying at his mother Princess Diana’s death until the funeral and how that shaped his understanding of grief. He links his two Afghanistan deployments to an attempt to outrun his emotions, later recognizing that unprocessed grief resurfaced in everyday moments, triggering panic attacks.
A 2019 relocation to Vancouver Island with Meghan Markle and their son Archie provided space to address these issues, followed by a period of depression after an adrenaline crash. Harry says family time and his charitable work now give him purpose, hoping his mother would be proud of his efforts.
Why it matters
The class offers a high-profile discussion of grief and mental health, encouraging broader public awareness.
