Prince William joins Indian cricket legends on The Mall for Earthshot Prize ceremony
Prince William took part in a cricket showcase on The Mall alongside former Indian captains Ajinkya Rahane and Sourav Ganguly as Mumbai prepares to host the Earthshot Prize ceremony.
Prince William joined a makeshift cricket match on The Mall, playing alongside former Indian captains Ajinkya Rahane and Sourav Ganguly. The gathering serves as a promotional moment for Mumbai, which will host the upcoming Earthshot Prize ceremony that awards £1 million to five environmental innovators. During the session, William tried his hand at bowling and batting, missing several deliveries from England white-ball captain Harry Brook and Ganguly before connecting with a ball and sending it over a grassroots team called Backyard Cricket.
Former West Indies legend Brian Lara praised the prince’s enthusiasm, noting his potential as a lower-order batsman. The event also featured a brief appearance by the Backyard Cricket initiative, which aims to grow the sport at the community level.
