Prince William launches Ready Together emergency preparedness program in Somerset
Prince William visited Ilminster to introduce the Ready Together scheme, a National Emergencies Trust project aimed at boosting local emergency readiness.
Prince William travelled to Ilminster in Somerset to observe the cooperation between locals, volunteers, businesses and emergency responders in tackling hazards like floods and wildfires. While there, he launched Ready Together, a project by the National Emergencies Trust that supplies practical tools for communities to plan and react to emergencies. As patron of the trust, William took part in a scenario-based training exercise alongside volunteers and youth.
He also spoke with the Ilminster Resilience Group, which has assisted residents during severe flooding, and visited Sweet Surprise, a café that supports adults with learning disabilities. The visit concluded at Ilminster Fire Station, where he met representatives from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and learned about their mapping and forecasting systems for rising wildfire risk.
