Princess Aiko tours Tottori, joins disaster-prevention forum and Case Closed exhibit

Princess Aiko spent a day in Tottori Prefecture attending a disaster-prevention conference, viewing a Detective Conan exhibition and visiting local sites.

Princess Aiko, daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, travelled to Tottori Prefecture for a three-day itinerary that combined cultural and safety-related activities. After landing at Tottori airport, she explored an exhibition dedicated to the locally-created manga series Detective Conan, noting she had recently seen its newest film. The princess then attended a disaster-prevention conference in Kurayoshi, where she listened to a lecture presented from a woman's perspective, featuring female firefighters and university students who aided relief efforts after the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake.

This marked her second participation in the event, having attended the previous year. She also visited an employment support facility for people with disabilities and plans to see areas damaged by the 2016 earthquake as well as the Tottori Sand Dunes.

Why it matters

The visit highlights the imperial family's role in promoting disaster readiness and regional culture.
