Princess Astrid's Funeral Open to Public with Live TV Broadcast

Princess Astrid will be laid to rest on Wednesday, and the church will be accessible to all who wish to be present, while the service is simultaneously broadcast on NRK for those unable to travel. Visitors will be subject to a security screening, and oversized items such as large bags, backpacks and umbrellas are not allowed inside the venue. The funeral rites will be conducted by parish priest Paul Erik Wirgenes together with Oslo bishop Sunniva Gylver.

Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg will represent the government and give a remembrance address, as Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre is abroad for a UN assembly. Members of the royal family, including King Harald, Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, are scheduled to attend. A national directive calls for all state institutions to fly flags at half-mast from the morning until the burial concludes at 14:00, after which flags will be raised to full-mast.
