Princess of Wales joins West Sussex volunteers to spotlight rural transport lifeline
Catherine, Princess of Wales, rode a West Sussex community minibus in Pulborough, highlighting its role for isolated seniors.
During a morning visit to Pulborough, Catherine, Princess of Wales, joined the West Sussex Minibus team, a volunteer-run transport service for isolated residents. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the organisation now runs 11 minibuses from eight village hubs, supported by 284 volunteers, and logs about 60,000 miles and 13,000 passenger trips annually. The Princess rode one of the vehicles, assisted passengers with boarding, and learned how the service sustains independence for older people.
Her itinerary concluded at Pulborough Village Hall, where she attended a weekly lunch club and spoke with attendees and volunteers. The appearance follows a recent surprise visit with Prince William to Sir Kevin Sinfield’s MND fundraiser in Yorkshire.
