Prisma adds military-style plate carrier vests to its online catalogue
Finland's retailer Prisma has begun offering plate carrier vests, aimed at shooting-sport enthusiasts, without accompanying ballistic plates.
Prisma has expanded its online product selection to include plate carrier vests, a tactical garment often associated with military use, targeting participants in shooting sports such as the growing reserve-force shooting discipline (SRA). Mikko Oikari, head of procurement and assortment at S-ryhmä, said the addition reflects broader diversification into hunting and shooting-sport gear driven by increased interest in SRA.
The retailer introduced the vests in the autumn period, initially offering only small quantities that have already been purchased, though it declined to reveal precise sales numbers. The vests, branded Tasmanian Tiger, are manufactured by the German company Tatonka, which also supplies other tactical accessories. Prisma does not sell the ballistic plates that could be fitted to the vests, and they remain part of a separate category that includes ammunition belts, rifle and pistol pouches, medical kits, hearing protection and safety glasses.
Why it matters
The sale highlights civilian demand for military-style equipment and the rise of shooting sports in Finland.
