Prisoner flees Hamilton Sheriff Court cell, recaptured after brief police chase
A detainee escaped from a Hamilton Sheriff Court cell through a fire door, triggering an alarm before police quickly recaptured him.
During a session at Hamilton Sheriff Court, a person in custody managed to leave the court's detention facilities by using a fire door, which activated the building's alarm system. Security personnel and Police Scotland were alerted and launched an immediate search. Officers tracked the escapee and apprehended him shortly thereafter, restoring him to the custody staff.
The escape caused a temporary suspension of court activities while the surrounding vicinity was swept for the individual. Authorities will submit a report to the Procurator Fiscal regarding the breach. GEOAmey, the prisoner transport service, noted that the person was briefly at large but was swiftly recaptured with police assistance.
