Pro-Hamas campus group continues activity after U.S. terrorism sanction
Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return UW (SUPER UW) still operates on the University of Washington campus despite a U.S. sanction on its overseas affiliate.
The student organization known as SUPER UW, which identifies as an ally of the U.S.-designated terrorist group Masar Badil, organized a protest on Oct. 7 marking three years of what it calls Israeli genocide. Although the United States has sanctioned Masar Badil’s foreign branch as a terrorism front, the group remains active at the University of Washington. The organization called on Seattle residents to join the demonstration via an Instagram post in September.
Why it matters
It shows how a sanctioned extremist group can still influence campus activism in the United States.
