Pro-Israel Lobby Launches Parliamentary Caucuses in Greece and Cyprus, Citing Turkey as Common Enemy

Pro-Israel organisations have set up parliamentary caucuses in Greece and Cyprus, portraying Turkey as a shared threat.

A pro-Israel network has established parliamentary caucuses in Greece and Cyprus, with the Israel Allies Foundation framing Turkey as a mutual adversary. The Cypriot launch on 14 October featured President Nikos Christodoulides and lawmakers from the Democratic Party, Democratic Rally and the National Popular Front, while a similar Greek caucus was organized after a private meeting that included former prime minister Antonis Samaras.

The effort follows a recent Aipac delegation led by Bernard Kaminetsky and Yehuda Neuberger, which promoted “security partnerships” among Israel, Cyprus and the United States. Additional groups such as Transatlantic Friends of Israel have also opened Cyprus chapters, drawing participation from the same parties. Opposition voices, notably the Progressive Party of Working People (Akel), denounced the parliamentary groups as an unprecedented intrusion by foreign interests, citing the UN commission’s finding of genocide in Gaza. The moves have sparked debate over Israeli economic influence and land purchases on the island.
