Professor Dudek says coalition backed Horała to widen right-wing split

In a YouTube interview, Professor Dudek admitted that the governing coalition deliberately backed Horała to intensify the split among right-wing forces, aligning with a view expressed by Kaczyński. Horała, associated with the party of former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, secured the deputy speaker position after PiS withdrew its own nominee, Marcin Ociepa. Coalition parliamentarians voted for Horała, which Dudek interprets as evidence of a desire to deepen intra-right divisions.

Kaczyński has accused Morawiecki of striking a clandestine deal with the ruling camp, a charge the former premier previously denied. The dispute between PiS and the Rozwój Plus faction remains a central source of tension, despite Morawiecki’s earlier appointment by Kaczyński as prime minister. Szymon Hołownia voted for Horała, while the rest of the Poland 2050 club backed the PiS candidate, highlighting internal fractures within Hołownia’s group, which he now leads after Paweł Śliz’s resignation.
