Prosecutor files charges against four individuals and a company over Pardubice contracts

The regional prosecutor's office has sent four people and a firm to trial for alleged violations related to public contracts in Pardubice.

Police concluded a four-year investigation into alleged corruption at the Pardubice magistrate and forwarded the matter to prosecutors. The Krajské státní zastupitelství in Hradec Králové has now indicted four people and a company for manipulating public procurement contracts between 2017 and 2021, violating competition law, and for the former transport department chief, Vladimír Bakajsa, for abusing his official position.

The company faces charges of laundering proceeds from the alleged wrongdoing. The indictment lists 268 separate acts of contract manipulation. The case will be examined by the regional court's Pardubice branch, which will decide whether to proceed to a full trial.
