Prosecutor says Fagersta school attack probe deepens and seeks longer indictment period

The prosecutor overseeing the Brinellskolan case said the investigation is gaining clarity but still requires extensive work, and has asked for the indictment deadline to be extended to 16 November.

Ann-Sofie Trossing, the chief prosecutor, stated that investigators are obtaining a clearer picture of the events at Brinellskolan in Fagersta, though much work remains. The probe will include additional interrogations and analyses. An 18-year-old man is detained on murder and three attempted-murder charges, while a 16-year-old boy is held for aiding the crimes. A 17-year-old girl was killed and three boys were injured in the attack. The prosecutor has requested that the indictment deadline be pushed to 16 November.

Why it matters
