Prosecutor urges jurors to weigh Katie Price's testimony with caution

In the rape trial of Katie Price's former husband, the prosecutor told jurors to treat her evidence skeptically and focus on the complainant's account.

At the conclusion of the rape trial involving Katie Price's ex-husband, prosecutor Ryan Richter addressed jurors, urging them to treat Price's testimony with extreme caution and possibly disregard up to 90% of it as irrelevant. He stressed that the jury must look beyond the media-driven egos and focus on the complainant's narrative, questioning whether the alleged promise to make the victim a "star" is central to the case.

Defense counsel Ms Piercy argued that the complainant's account is riddled with more than 30 gaps, undermining her overall credibility. The prosecutor also suggested that the high-profile personalities could drown out the victim's voice. Hayler, the defendant, maintains his innocence, calling the allegations a smear campaign. The court will now move to deliberations as the trial continues.

Why it matters

The direction given to jurors could shape the outcome of a high-profile sexual assault case.
