Prosecutors Continue Investigation into Election Irregularities, 69 Arrested
The District Prosecutor's Office in Siedlce says 69 people have been detained over alleged failures by local election committees in the recent presidential vote.
The Siedlce District Prosecutor's Office reported that a preparatory criminal proceeding has been opened against members of local election commissions for alleged neglect of their responsibilities in the latest presidential election. To date, 69 suspects have been detained as investigators continue to collect new evidence. Prosecutor Bartłomiej Świderski explained that the alleged failures—such as unreliable vote tallying—undermine the integrity of the election process and constitute a serious public harm.
Specific commissions in towns including Stoczek, Stanin, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Bychawa, Magnuszew, Radom, Lublin, Łaskarzew, Stoczek Łukowski, Poturzyn and Łęczna have been named. Six members of the Stoczek commission face charges in the Węgrów District Court, while three others have requests for conditional termination of proceedings. Potential penalties range from fines to imprisonment of up to two years.
