Prosecutors probe relatives and lawyers after railway disaster trial halted over missing videos

Following the suspension of the Tempi railway disaster proceedings, the Karditsa prosecutors have initiated a preliminary investigation into the families of the victims and the lawyers representing them. The probe examines accusations of violating oral-conversation privacy, interfering with public-service operations and possible attempts at aggravated corruption. Parents of the deceased and court advocates have been summoned to provide statements.

In parallel, police video captured during the halted hearing and its subsequent posting on social networks are now part of the prosecutorial review. The case stems from the March hearing in Larissa where the court had initially ordered the release of seized video material related to the accident, a decision that sparked controversy and led to the trial’s interruption.
