Protein-Fortified Snacks Surge in Popularity, Driving Higher Consumer Spending
High-protein snack items now appear in one-fifth of grocery carts, and shoppers are spending more on them each year.
Products marketed as protein-rich, such as bars, yogurts and cereals, are found in about 20% of shopping baskets. A market researcher notes that spending on these items has risen 25% since 2023, reaching roughly €88 per consumer annually. The growth is fueled by the perception that these foods are healthy and enhance one outlet performance.
