Protesters clash with security forces in Kangpokpi over alleged villager detention

In Kangpokpi district, demonstrators set fire to tyres and hurled stones at government vehicles after claiming six villagers from Kholen were detained without explanation.

The unrest began around 10 pm on Saturday in Motbung and nearby villages, with protesters burning tyres and targeting security vehicles. Demonstrators said six Kholen residents were held by security forces without justification. Police responded with tear-gas shells and used heavy equipment to block sections of National Highway-2 to hinder troop movements. Several protesters were injured and taken to a local hospital.
