Proton posts record August sales and strong year-to-date performance
In August, Proton delivered 22,632 cars, the most it has ever sold in a single month. The cumulative sales for the first eight months of 2026 reached 141,421 units, giving the company a 25.6% share of the Malaysian market. The updated Proton S70, X50 SUV, X90 seven-seater, and the long-standing Saga all posted strong figures, while the e.MAS electric sub-brand achieved a new monthly high of 6,047 units.
Proton Holdings announced that August saw a record domestic sales volume of 22,632 vehicles, the highest monthly total in the company's history. Total sales for the first eight months of 2026 climbed to 141,421 units, translating to a 25.6% market share based on industry forecasts. The refreshed Proton S70 reached an all-time high with 3,235 units sold in August, while the X50 continued to lead the B-segment SUV category and the X90 topped the D-segment seven-seater market with 471 deliveries.
The Proton Saga moved 7,347 units, nearing 60,000 for the year. Proton's e.MAS electric line recorded 6,047 deliveries in August, with the e.MAS 5 becoming the best-selling EV model in Malaysia at 4,818 units. Executives highlighted the brand’s growing export activities and its position to meet year-end volume and financial targets.
