PS leader condemns education minister over hundreds of students lacking public school placement

Eurico Brilhante Dias accused Education Minister Fernando Alexandre of leaving hundreds of pupils without access to mandatory public schooling.

At a press briefing in Lisbon, PS parliamentary leader Eurico Brilhante Dias labeled Education Minister Fernando Alexandre as responsible for a situation where hundreds of children lack placement in mandatory public schools. He cited a recent legal action by a group of parents against the Ministry of Education as evidence of the crisis. According to Dias, the minister's reaction has been to launch investigations into schools, principals and teachers instead of acknowledging accountability.

He also noted that existing problems with exam administration remain unresolved, compounding one outlet challenges. Dias warned that the minister may become remembered as one of the least effective in recent history if these issues persist.
