PSD chief claims Bolojan stayed in power after secret deal with Simion

Claudiu Manda, the PSD’s general secretary, asserted that Ilie Bolojan’s continuation as prime minister for four months resulted from a secret arrangement with AUR president George Simion, a claim he voiced during a televised interview. He linked this alleged deal to the period when the Veștea cabinet was seeking parliamentary approval. Manda’s remarks came as a response to Siegfried Mureșan’s accusations that PSD and AUR had manipulated a shepherds’ demonstration.

Bolojan had earlier confirmed two meetings with Simion, emphasizing that they were general discussions rather than political negotiations. He framed the talks as a matter of mutual respect among public figures. Meanwhile, Nicuşor Dan announced Siegfried Mureșan as his candidate for prime minister, noting the lack of a clear parliamentary majority at the time of the nomination.
