PSD chief Grindeanu warns media of legal action over Fitch downgrade reports

Sorin Grindeanu, head of the Social Democratic Party, told Antena 3 that media coverage claiming Fitch Ratings warned Romania of a possible downgrade to junk is damaging the country and could lead to financial or criminal responsibility for the outlets. He clarified that Fitch had reaffirmed the rating a month ago and that a later analyst’s interview was being treated as an agency statement, so the PSD will request an official response from Fitch.

Grindeanu said the party will consult its legal team to evaluate potential liabilities and may pursue action against the press. He warned against using misinformation in political battles, citing what he described as propaganda around the Bolojan government. Additionally, he indicated serious consideration of a parliamentary commission to investigate the SAFE programme’s procurement contracts.
