PSD deputy Natalia Intotero says Rahova explosion aid bill stalled in Parliament
Deputy Natalia Intotero accused the Chamber of Deputies of blocking a law meant to compensate victims of the Rahova blast, leaving displaced residents without support nearly a year later.
During an appearance on a current-affairs program, PSD deputy Natalia Intotero denounced the failure of the Chamber of Deputies to pass a bill designed to aid victims of the October 2025 Rahova explosion. The legislation, originally drafted by PSD members, would provide owners of destroyed dwellings with compensation based on real-market values from a government emergency fund and require municipalities to rebuild within a year.
While the Senate dismissed the proposal as populist, the bill now remains stalled in the lower house, according to Intotero. She highlighted that three residents died, 13 were injured, and 43 families have been housed temporarily by the city, a measure recently extended for another year. Nearly a year after the disaster, many displaced owners are scattered across Bucharest, burdened with loans and debts. Intotero called for greater empathy from officials and urged dialogue with affected citizens to prevent further hardship.
