PSD Olt dismisses rumors of Senator Paul Stănescu joining AUR
The PSD branch in Olt refuted claims that Senator Paul Stănescu is negotiating a move to AUR, insisting he remains loyal to the party.
PSD Olt publicly rejected reports that Senator Paul Stănescu might switch allegiance to AUR or be offered a leadership post there. In a Saturday Facebook message, the regional organization highlighted Stănescu's long-standing role in building the party and described him as an experienced negotiator capable of forging consensus. The statement emphasized that a change of function does not equate to a change of convictions and that the rumors lack substance.
AUR’s spokesperson Ștefăniță Avrămescu echoed the denial, saying no such negotiations occurred. Stănescu previously served as PSD secretary-general until the November 2025 congress, after which he has kept a lower public profile.
Why it matters
The denial clarifies political affiliations and prevents misinformation about party dynamics in Romania.
