PSD weighs ministerial slate for Luca Niculescu cabinet amid controversy
PSD will decide today whether to propose a list of ministers for Luca Niculescu's government, with names such as Radu Marinescu, Marian Neacșu and others under discussion.
PSD’s executive committee convenes this afternoon to determine if the party will submit a slate of ministers to the Luca Niculescu administration. Draft lists circulate featuring Radu Marinescu, a former Justice minister linked to a plagiarism accusation and a private-jet trip to Mykonos, as a possible Justice minister. Marian Neacșu, who previously received a suspended six-month sentence for conflict of interest, is floated for the Interior portfolio and vice-premiership, though his appointment could clash with Sorin Grindeanu’s anti-convicted-official stance.
Other names include Eugen Tomac as a potential vice-premier, Mihai Ghigiu, a young PSD guard, for Environment, and Alexandru Rogobete for Health, known for advocating health-insurance privatization. The final decision will be made at today’s session.
Why it matters
The choice of ministers will shape the policy direction of Romania's new government and test PSD's internal discipline.
