Psychiatrist in Oise Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor Amid Cult-Like Abuse Claims

A psychiatrist in Clermont, Oise has been indicted for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old and is being held in pre-trial detention.

A psychiatrist who has worked in Clermont, Oise since 1991 was placed in provisional detention after being formally charged with sexual assault on a 15-year-old, with the alleged offenses dated from July 2020 to July 2022 and involving a single identified victim. The indictment, announced at the end of August by the Beauvais prosecutor’s office, follows months of circulating accusations against the doctor, including claims of inappropriate physical contact during consultations and alleged cult-like practices.

Several former patients have reported the physician’s behavior on Google, describing him as a “toxic manipulator” who invited patients to lie on a couch and engaged in unwanted touching. These online testimonies, along with complaints filed to the Mission interministérielle de vigilance et de lutte contre les dérives sectaires (Miviludes), are being used as evidence, and authorities are searching for any other possible victims. The psychiatrist maintains the presumption of innocence while the investigation continues.

Why it matters

The case highlights potential abuse of professional authority and raises concerns about safeguarding in mental-health care.
