PTI weighs postponing Islamabad march pending election timetable, prisoner releases, inquiry

Advocate Naeem Haider Panjutha indicated PTI would consider delaying its long march scheduled for September 27 if the government commits to holding free, fair elections within six to eight months, releases Imran Khan and other political prisoners via due process, and orders a judicial inquiry into the May 9 and November 26 security operations. He warned that without these assurances the march would proceed without compromise.

Party spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram contradicted the claim, stating no such proposal is under discussion and that only Imran Khan can authorize a postponement. Meanwhile, the interior ministry approved the deployment of Pakistan Rangers in Islamabad and multiple Punjab districts from Sept 20 to Oct 5 under anti-terrorism statutes. The Punjab government also requested the interior ministry to limit mobile and internet services in Rawalpindi and Attock on the protest day. Senior PTI figures, including interim chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, met Senate opposition leaders to coordinate march logistics, while the Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) discussed provincial autonomy and the upcoming protest.
