PTPTN to detail new repayment relief tiers for low-income borrowers soon
PTPTN chair Norliza Abdul Rahim said the agency will soon announce how repayment relief will work for borrowers earning below RM3,000, after discussions with the Ministry of Finance.
During a junior superhero event at Hospital Pulau Pinang, PTPTN chair Norliza Abdul Rahim explained that the agency is negotiating with the Ministry of Finance on a new repayment framework. Under the proposed scheme, borrowers whose monthly income is below RM2,500 will have their instalments deferred, while those earning between RM2,500 and RM3,000 will pay a minimum of RM50 per month. Individuals with incomes above RM3,000 will continue with the standard repayment schedule.
The details of the mechanism are still being discussed and will be disclosed in the near future. The initiative aligns with the government's budget announcement that offers similar relief to low-income borrowers.
