Public sector unions plan large-scale strike demanding salary index increase
A coalition of French civil-service unions will launch a major strike to demand a general pay rise.
The inter-union front that includes CGT, FO, CFDT, Unsa, FSU, Solidaires, CFE-CGC and the autonomous federation announced a nationwide walkout. Their primary demand is a universal increase in civil-service salaries, protesting the planned freeze of the index point used to calculate base pay, which has not been adjusted since July 2023 and has only been unfrozen four times in the past fifteen years.
