On September 3, police responded to reports of a foul odor emanating from a house in Sudhar Patti Dhaliwal, a village near Ludhiana. Inside, they found singer-songwriter Baljeet Singh lying on a bed, surrounded by bloodstains. Singh, who had been isolated and out of touch with relatives, is thought to have died four to five days prior to the find.
The investigation is focused on determining how he died. His death follows the recent killing of Haryana singer Ankit Balyan, heightening worries about the safety of regional musicians in North India.
