Putin claims West resorts to undignified tactics as BRICS controls over 40% of global GDP
At the BRICS summit, Vladimir Putin said the West is using questionable methods to regain global leadership, while Russia reported capturing eight Ukrainian settlements and two civilians were killed by Ukrainian drones in Tula.
During the BRICS summit in New Delhi, President Vladimir Putin asserted that the bloc’s share of over 40% of global GDP has forced Western nations to adopt “undignified” tactics, including direct military action, naval blockades and attacks on energy and industrial facilities, to try to reclaim global leadership. He also highlighted the extensive sanctions imposed on Russia. The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that its troops captured eight settlements across Donetsk, Zaporízhia and Kharkiv, creating conditions for further moves in Zaporízhia and surrounding two Ukrainian battalions in Kharkiv.
Russian forces reported shooting down 777 Ukrainian drones in a single night. Ukrainian drones targeted roughly 15 Russian regions and Crimea, resulting in two civilian deaths and three injuries in the Tula region, about 200 km south of Moscow. Additionally, a Russian court in Tomsk limited the opposition Yabloko party to a single regional election, a decision the party says is politically motivated.
