Queens woman found dead in fiancé's home after alleged shooting

Angelique Apostol, 38, who worked at a domestic-violence shelter and frequently helped care for her sister's children, vanished after a planned outing on June 10. Her body was discovered on June 24 in the St. Albans apartment of her fiancé, Mark Washington, 55, who allegedly shot her in the head. Decomposition was so advanced that the wound was not immediately visible, but tattoos matching her sister's children's names confirmed her identity.

Melanie Apostol said the pair had attended a charity event together that day and were captured on a neighbor’s Ring camera returning home. Washington, an ex-convict with 11 prior arrests including an attempted murder charge, has not been apprehended, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers.
