Queensland Health reaches out to nearly 900 colonoscopy patients after audit

Queensland Health is notifying close to 900 people who underwent colonoscopies at Warwick and Goondiwindi hospitals following an audit of a private specialist’s work.

An internal review of colonoscopy procedures performed by a private doctor at Warwick and Goondiwindi hospitals between 2023 and 2026 raised concerns about compliance with care standards. As a result, Queensland Health has begun contacting the affected patients. The matter has been escalated to the Office of the Health Ombudsman for further investigation.

Why it matters

Patients may need follow-up care if their colonoscopy did not meet proper standards.
