Queensland lawmakers examine jail-time bail bill amid detention concerns

A Queensland parliamentary committee is reviewing the proposed “breach bail, go to jail” legislation, which has drawn criticism over its potential impact on detention capacity.

During a committee hearing, members of the Justice, Integrity and Community Safety Committee heard more than 250 submissions opposing the new bail-breach offence.
