Queensland police seek witnesses after early-morning assault in Brookfield

Police are asking the public for information about a woman in her 20s who was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on Brookfield Road early this morning.

Queensland police have launched an appeal for information after a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted by a stranger on Brookfield Road near the bridge at about 6:30 am. The attacker, wearing black shorts and a black jumper, approached the victim and then escaped on foot. Authorities are seeking anyone who was in the vicinity between 5:45 am and 6:45 am, particularly individuals who may have captured the event on dash-cam.

Detectives and specialist police officers are on the scene, and local general-duties officers will increase patrols to maintain community safety. This case is being treated as isolated, but it follows a previous public appeal in June when an 11-year-old girl reported being approached and touched by an unknown man on Westridge Street. Police continue to investigate both incidents as part of broader efforts to protect residents.

Why it matters

The appeal highlights community safety concerns and the need for public assistance in solving violent crimes.
